ContextFS ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our services.

ContextFS is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your memories and data are stored locally on your device by default. Cloud sync is optional and uses end-to-end encryption.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and authentication information from OAuth providers (Google or GitHub). We do not store passwords.

Local Data

ContextFS stores memories, sessions, and embeddings locally on your device. This data never leaves your machine unless you explicitly enable cloud sync.

Synced Data (Optional)

If you enable cloud sync, your memories are encrypted on your device before transmission. We store encrypted data that we cannot read. Encryption keys are derived from your device and never sent to our servers.

Usage Analytics

We collect anonymized usage statistics to improve the service, including feature usage patterns and error reports. This data cannot be used to identify individual users or access your memories.

How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the ContextFS service
• To manage your account and subscription
• To sync your encrypted data across devices (if enabled)
• To send important service notifications
• To improve our services based on anonymized usage data

Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:

• AES-256-GCM encryption for all synced data
• TLS 1.3 for all data in transit
• Zero-knowledge architecture - we cannot read your encrypted data
• Regular security audits and updates

Data Retention

Local data remains on your device until you delete it. Cloud-synced data is retained as long as your account is active. You can delete your data at any time through the dashboard or by contacting us.

When you delete your account, all associated cloud data is permanently deleted within 30 days.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access and export your data at any time
• Delete your data and account
• Opt out of cloud sync and keep all data local
• Request information about what data we store

Third-Party Services

We use Stripe for payment processing. When you subscribe, Stripe collects payment information directly. We do not store credit card numbers. Please review Stripe's privacy policy for more information.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or through the service. Your continued use of ContextFS after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
